Amit Shah asks BJP leaders to divide opposition: Big allegation against Uddhav Thackeray

India Today's ground report from Beirut

Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday claimed that the BJP leaders were instructed at a closed-door meeting to break the opposition camp and target themselves and the country Communist Party (SP) leader Sharad Pawar.

Thackeray said it was the people, not the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, who would decide his political future.

He claimed that Union Home Minister Amit Shah in a “closed door” meeting directed the BJP leaders to “block” him (Uddhav) and Sharad Pawar politically.

“During his recent visit to Nagpur, Amit Shah held a closed-door meeting of BJP leaders where he asked them to split the opposition ranks and block me and Sharad Pawar politically. Why should he say this behind closed doors? He should say this in front of people,” Thackeray said at a ceremony for the life-size Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Ramtek, eastern Maharashtra state Ji said after the unveiling of the statue.

He claimed why Shah wanted to eliminate Uddhav Thackeray and Sharad Pawar politically… so that the BJP could loot Maharashtra.

Thackeray said the BJP ended its three-decade alliance with the (indivisible) Shiv Sena in 2014 (before the assembly elections). “However, the Sena managed to win 63 seats,” he added.

Thackeray wanted to know if RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat agreed with the BJP’s “Hinduism” involving undermining other parties and poaching (opposition leaders).

“The upcoming elections are not about power but are crucial to prevent Maharashtra from being robbed,” the former chief minister said and appealed to people to ensure a resounding victory for Maha Vikas Aghadi and win the election in the Ramtek Lok Sabha Complete all six assembly segment constituencies.

Congress and SP leaders Sunil Kedar and Anil Deshmukh shared the dais with Thackeray.
