Four Kanwariyas were killed and 11 others injured when they were run over by a car while visiting a temple in Bihar’s Banka district on Friday night, officials said.

Divisional Magistrate Avinash Kumar said the body has been sent for post-mortem and an investigation will be launched into the cause of the accident.

“We rushed to the spot immediately. Around 10 to 11 people were injured in the incident and are undergoing treatment. Four of them died. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem. The situation is calm and the government is fully cooperating. We will investigate the cause of the incident,” Kumar explain.

Divisional police officer Bipin Bihari said police were present at the scene.

“Some Kanwariyas were hit by cars and four people died. There were some law and order issues initially but the situation is normal. Police are at the scene,” he said.
