One person was injured on Saturday when a clash broke out between members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in Jalalabad in Fazilka district of Punjab. The incident took place during a meeting related to the upcoming panchayat elections.
The man who suffered a bullet wound in the chest is reportedly an AAP member and his condition is said to be critical.
Party spokesperson Malwinder Singh Kang blamed the Akali Dal for the incident and said that while the ruling government is often accused of such incidents, the SAD was involved in panchayat polls Attack during investigation.
AAP’s Jalalabad MP Jagdeep Kamboj Goldy was also present when the incident took place. Senior police officers rushed to the scene following the incident, causing tensions to rise in the area.
