The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioners of Doda and Bhaderwah, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Education Officer, ARTO, Divisional Forest Officer, Executive Engineers of various departments and representatives of NHIDCL, PMGSY and SDRF. During the meeting, the DSRC discussed key aspects of road safety and outlined a roadmap for implementing improvements.
Other issues such as the installation of vital road safety infrastructure, crash barriers on sharp curves, speed reduction devices in accident-prone areas and improved road signage were also discussed during the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of educational activities to increase awareness of road safety among local communities.
He directed the municipal authorities to remove unnecessary obstacles in the town to reduce traffic congestion. He urged all relevant departments to work closely together to maintain road safety measures and ensure regular monitoring of speed limits, road maintenance and timely repair of damaged infrastructure.
The deputy commissioner also issued specific instructions to NHIDCL officials, stressing the need to install crash barriers to cover all sensitive and accident-prone areas.
He further directed them to avoid dumping construction materials in vulnerable areas as this may pose additional risks to road safety.
The Deputy Commissioner also directed the NHIDCL to maintain the stretch from Batote to Thathri and ensure that it is free of debris and other obstructions, which often lead to accidents.
