Explosion outside CRPF school in Delhi: Atishi says Center has responsibility to maintain law and order

Delhi Chief Minister Atish earlier today blamed the BJP for the blast outside the CRPF Public School in Rohini, north Delhi, saying it was the Centre’s responsibility to maintain law and order in the national capital. She claimed that the BJP leaders spent “90% of their energy” creating obstacles for the Delhi government.

“Maintaining law and order is the responsibility of the Center led by the BJP. Police, land and law and order belong to the central government. The BJP has concentrated 90% of its energy to trouble the Delhi government. Yesterday, 60 shooting incidents took place in Delhi.” Welcome district. Today, there was a small explosion in Rohini district,” she told a press conference.

“I appeal to the BJP on behalf of Delhi that they should not interfere in our work like education, health, roads etc. Instead, they should focus on security and maintaining law and order,” she added.

Earlier today, a huge explosion was heard near the CRPF school and thick smoke billowed near the building. The sound came from around the school wall, and the windows of nearby vehicles were shattered by the explosion.

Sources said there are several shops near the school and the loud sound could have been caused by a cylinder explosion. No casualties were reported and police suspected the use of low-intensity explosives, according to preliminary investigations.

A white powdery substance was discovered near the school wall after police cordoned off the entire area.

The police have registered an FIR under the Explosives Act. CCTV footage from the area is being scanned to determine the sequence of events and establish the cause of the explosion.

delhi pollution

At the same press conference, Atish spoke about Delhi’s rising air pollution, accusing what she called the BJP’s “dirty politics”. She claimed that incidents of stubble burning have decreased in Punjab since AAP came to power in 2022, but the practice has increased in the BJP-ruled states of Haryana and Uttar Pradesh.

“Pollution levels in Delhi are rising. Not just the air quality index, pollution in the Yamuna river is also rising. Today, Delhi wants to know what is the real reason for rising air and water pollution. The real reason is the filthiness of the BJP Dirty politics. Everyone knows the real reason is stubble burning. We have been controlling stubble burning in Punjab for the past two years.”
