ICC Champions Trophy 2025: The Pakistan Cricket Board i.e. PCB is scheduled to host the ICC Champions Trophy in the month of February-March in the year 2025, but after the BCCI refused to send Team India to play in Pakistan, the ICC considered organizing it on a hybrid model. However, the PCB is not yet ready to hold the tournament as such, due to which the Champions Trophy schedule is yet to be announced. On 29 November, the ICC held a meeting with the PCB and BCCI to try to reach a consensus on running it on a hybrid model, but no announcement was made by the ICC. Now news is coming out that ICC has replied to PCB in its own language.
ICC warned PCB
The ICC has now issued a warning to the PCB regarding the Champions Trophy 2025, in which, according to news agency PTI, the ICC has clearly told the PCB to either accept the hybrid model or face being thrown out of the tournament. After a virtual meeting held on November 29, the ICC has postponed the decision till November 30. In a statement to PTI on condition of anonymity, an ICC board source said that no broadcaster will pay a single penny for any ICC event in which the Indian team does not participate and Pakistan knows this too. Now the ICC meeting will be held on November 30 only if PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi agrees to the hybrid model.
The tournament can be held even without Pakistan
In his statement, the ICC board source further said that if Pakistan is not ready for the hybrid model, a decision may be taken to host the Champions Trophy in another country, which may be the UAE and that too without Pakistan. All eyes are now on the ICC meeting on November 30, where some big decisions may be taken.
