New Zealand got off to a great start after winning the toss. Lachin was eliminated on 197 runs. After this, New Zealand scored 4 more runs with wicketkeeper-batsman Tom Blundell (3) bowling cleanly after taking 3 runs. Sundar then gave New Zealand their sixth knock by dismissing Daryl Mitchell (18) LBW.

There was nothing special about Glenn Phillips, who was also sent into the pavilion by Sundar. When Phillips was dismissed, New Zealand’s odds were 236/7. After this, Sundar dismissed Tim Southee (5), Ajaz Patel (4) and Mitchell Santner (33) to end New Zealand team’s game. Sundar took 7 wickets and scored 59 runs. After this, the New Zealand team came to India in 1965 but had no chance to win the Test match this time. India then defeated their opponents 1-0 in the four Test matches. Three tests were conducted. Four years later, in 1969, the New Zealand team visited India again and won the first Test match on Indian soil. This time New Zealand drew 1-1 in the three Test matches.
