Voters in 40 constituencies in Jammu and Kashmir today went to the polls for the third and final phase of the assembly elections in the union territory amid high alert.
The polls are highly contested, with 415 candidates including prominent leaders such as former deputy chief minister Tara Chand and Muzaffar Beig.
Of the 40 parliamentary constituencies, 24 are in Jammu district and 16 are in Kashmir district. Voting opened at 7 a.m. and will end at 6 p.m.
