LG Sinha on J&K terror attack: ‘No one will support bloodshed of innocent citizens’

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday condemned the Gaganjir terror attack and said no one would support the bloodshed of innocent citizens.

Addressing a rally in Srinagar, Lieutenant Governor Sinha said: “A painful incident took place in Ganderbal yesterday. I don’t think anyone will support the bloodshed of innocent citizens. I hope the J&K police will quickly identify the perpetrators Please seek justice as soon as possible. I express my sincere condolences to the families of the victims…”

A doctor, a designer and five construction workers were killed when terrorists opened fire at a construction site in Garganjir in Ganderbal district on Sunday.

The son of Dr Shahnawaz Dar, one of the seven people killed in the Gaganjir terror attack, on Monday expressed sadness over his father’s death and said his father had wanted him to become a doctor but his death shattered his dreams.

He added that he had to take care of his family after his father’s death and urged the government to help him realize his dream of becoming an IAS officer.

Speaking to ANI in Budgam, Mohsin Shahnawaz Dar said, “My father Dr Shahnawaz Dar was an honest and respected person in this field. Man… My father wanted me to be a doctor but I wanted to be an IAS officer… My grandfather was a police inspector and he had faith in me that I would become an IAS officer.”

“My father was determined to make every effort for me to become an IAS officer. But after hearing yesterday’s news, my dream was shattered. I also have to take care of myself and my family… I urge the government to help me realize my dream,” he added.

Dr Dar, designer Sushant Abrol and six workers were killed when terrorists attacked a tunnel construction site on the Srinagar-Leh National Highway in Ganderbal district on Sunday. Unidentified assailants carried out the attack late at night when the workers and other staff were returning to their camp in Ganderbalgund.

North Carolina President Farooq Abdullah condemned the attack and blamed it on Pakistan.

“This attack is very unfortunate. Migrant poor laborers and a doctor lost their lives. What will the terrorists gain from this? Do they think they can create a Pakistan here? We are working to end this so that we can put an end to the pain,” Faroo Abdullah told reporters.

He also said he wanted to tell Pakistan’s leaders that if they want to have good relations with India, they need to end terror and allow the people of Jammu and Kashmir to live with dignity and succeed.

“I want to tell the Pakistani leadership that if they want to have good relations with India, they need to end this situation.” Kashmir Pakistan Nahi Banega. “Let us live with dignity and succeed. If they could not create Pakistan for 75 years, how can it be possible now? It is time to end terrorism, otherwise the consequences will be very serious. If they kill our innocent people, negotiate How?” he added.

A National Investigation Agency (NIA) team led by a senior officer is heading to the scene of the terror attack in Gaganjir. Sources said a team of the NIA’s regional branch in the Union Territory will be led by a head constable of the rank of superintendent of police and is expected to reach the terror site by noon.
