Mayawati, Yogi Adityanath and Akhilesh Yadav.
The Mazwan assembly seat of UP’s Mirzapur will go to the polls on November 20 for the by-election. SP is giving an edge to the issue of caste integration and employment here. BJP is trying to overcome the electoral hurdle based on law and order and polarization. While BSP is running on BDM (Brahmin, Dalit and Muslim) formula.
SP leader Ramesh Bind is very seriously trying to convince the people of Dalit Colony in Gahira area of Mazwan. He knows how much Dalit voters contributed with BSP in becoming MLA for three consecutive terms. Ramesh Bind is trying to establish that connection before voting. He knows that opening a SP account in Majwan is not easy.
BJP is reminding of SP’s previous tenure
Here, SP has not won a single election till date. BJP is trying to get the election on the line of its biggest leader in the state. The atmosphere created by CM Yogi two days ago against the SP on the issue of polarization, nepotism and law and order, coupled with the party’s candidate Shuchismita Maurya, all the senior leaders of the party are moving ahead with the same party line.
BJP leaders and workers are repeating CM Yogi’s statement ‘If you divide, you will be cut’ and raising slogans like ‘Mafia is born in SP production house’ among people. BJP people are more reminiscent of SP’s previous tenure than the government’s achievements.
SP is trying to sharpen these issues
SP is trying to sharpen the issue of caste integration and employment. All the hopes and confidence of the SP rests on Ramesh Bind, who has been an MLA from here for three consecutive terms. His daughter Dr. Jyoti Bind is SP candidate from here. After CM Yogi, Akhilesh Yadav is going to hold a big public meeting here on November 17.
SP leaders and workers are looking for a solution to the issue of ‘if you unite, you will be safe’ in issues like employment. SP campaign workers are appealing to the people of the area to vote on key issues like employment and inflation. Don’t forget to mention the plight of local roads and basic amenities.
BSP won three consecutive elections with this equation
BSP’s Deepak Tiwari is trying to solve the caste equation by erecting chaupalas in Brahmin and Dalit colonies. BSP’s strategy is that if it makes some inroads among Brahmins, Dalits and Muslims as well as other caste groups, it can run elephants in Majwan. BSP won three consecutive elections from here with the help of this equation, but then BSP leader Ramesh Bind is now in SP.
Around 3.95 lakh voters in Mazwan will elect their MLA on November 20. Voting patterns in Mazwan since the 1990s are largely due to two factors. One is the ideological affiliation with the party and the other is the caste of the candidate. BJP and BSP have mostly won elections based on this.
These three vote banks are the most important in Majwan
Brahmins, Binds and Dalits are the three most important vote banks in Mazwan. Whoever it goes with is sure to win. This is approximately 57% of the total electorate. After this, about 40% of voters belong to the Yadav, Muslim, Maurya, Patel, Pal and Bhumihar communities. 3% are voters from other communities.
Ramesh Bind is trying his best to keep his society together. Bhadohi BJP MP Dr. Vinod Bind is wreaking havoc in his campaign. However, Ramesh’s Robinhood image in the Bind community is proving to be of great help to the SP. Analysts believe that apart from bind voters, the SP will also benefit from the loss of Muslim-Yadav votes and Brahmin voters going with the BSP. In this way SP will create history in Mazwan.
Who will have these two votebanks??
BJP depends on the votes of Bind, Brahmin, Maurya, Patel, Pal and Thakur. However, BJP will be safe if it remains united on the principle of majoritarianism as the narrative is also being set. BSP is trying to make a difference in the elections with the help of BDM. Through Deepu Tiwari, the BSP is creating a means to break into the Brahmin vote bank and tap into the Muslim vote bank with its traditional Dalit voters.
He who has Bind and Brahmin with him has won the election. Be it BJP or BSP or Nishad Party. Who will have these two vote banks this time? The secret of Majwan’s victory is hidden in this question itself!
