Mehbooba canceled the campaign in solidarity with the Hezbollah chief

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday called off his election campaign in the wake of Israel’s series of attacks on Lebanon and Gaza.

Following the series of attacks by Israel on Lebanon and Gaza, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mehbooba Mufti canceled his election campaign on Sunday, September 29, 2024.

Taking to her X, she declared, “Canceling my campaign tomorrow in solidarity with the martyrs of Lebanon and Gaza, especially Hassan Nasrullah. We stand with the people of Palestine and Lebanon in this hour of great suffering and exemplary resistance.”

Death of Nasrallah

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah was killed in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut on Saturday.

Nasrallah said in a statement.have joined their fellow martyrs. We will continue the holy war against the enemy and in support of Palestine.

While, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on X said, “Hassan Nasrallah can no longer terrorize the world.

Anti-Israel campaign in Jammu and Kashmir

On Saturday (September 28, 2024), a large number of people, including children, staged a peaceful protest against Israeli airstrikes, protesting the killing of Nasrallah. Officials said they were seen carrying black flags on roads in Hassanabad, Rainawari, Saidakdal, Mir Behri and Ashbagh areas of the city. They also shouted anti-Israel and anti-American slogans.

Police officers were deployed in areas between long traffic jams in several parts of the city, including the Khanyar-Hazratbal axis.
