Police File Case Against 47 Hindu Activists in Shamli District for Demanding Closure of Non-Vegetarian Restaurants

A case has been booked against 47 Hindu activists in Shamli district for allegedly making collective remarks at a meeting demanding closure of non-vegetarian hotels and restaurants, police said on Sunday.

They said the Hindu Panchayat led by Mahant Swami Yashvir of Yog Sadhan Ashram Bhagra, who has been named in the FIR, was allegedly held without permission in Thanabhawan town on September 29.

On Sunday, Hindu activists, including in Yashville, gathered outside a non-vegetarian hotel and demanded the closure of all such establishments within a hundred meters of the town’s temple.

During the protest, they allegedly chanted religious slogans and made provocative remarks against Muslims, according to police.

Station House Officer (SHO) Virender Kasana said: “A case has been registered against 47 Hindu activists, including seven named individuals, under the relevant departments of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Mahant Swami Yashvir’s name also appeared in the case filed on September 30 “Flight information report.”

In response to the case filed by the police, Hindu activists announced plans to hold a protest on October 10 against the charges against their fellow activists.
