Srinagar, November 29: Jammu District Director General of Police (ADGP) Anand Jain on Friday assured that counter-terror operations will continue in Jammu region to destroy the terror ecosystem and its networks. Jain told the media that extensive search operations are currently underway to target terror infrastructure and support networks.
ADGP Jain said: “Large-scale search operations are underway in all areas of Jammu region to combat the terror ecosystem and networks and neutralize their presence.”
Jain further explained that the ongoing operations are focused on providing support to the ground staff after the registration of the case. “We have conducted searches in all areas of Jammu division. A large number of people have been questioned and searches against terrorists and their supporters will continue.”
Jain highlighted the progress made in these efforts and confirmed that more than 50 locations have been searched in various districts. “The fight against terrorists and their infrastructure remains a top priority,” Jain said.
Operations against terrorists from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) are also ongoing. “We have seized properties of seven individuals from Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Further actions against others are underway,” he said. Jain also mentioned that cases related to recent terrorist attacks are under investigation.
In view of the recent increase in terror activities, a special unit of the National Security Guard (NSG), India’s premier counter-terrorism force, has been stationed in Jammu. The deployment was carried out on the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) to strengthen security agencies.
“We are being supported by special forces including the NSG. NSG deployment has begun and we are ready to deal with any eventuality,” Jain assured.
In a recent operation, Doda police arrested a hardcore terrorist associate, Firdous Ahmed Wani, Mangota Marmat resident who allegedly sought to revive terrorism in the area. “The accused was in touch with his terrorist handlers through various social media channels and was trying to create a foothold for anti-national elements in Doda,” Jain said.
Following his arrest, a thorough search of Wani’s residence led to the recovery of incriminating materials and documents. “A case, FIR No. 173/2024, has been registered against him at Bhaderwah police station under sections 147, 148, 150 and 152 of the BNS,” Jain added.
