Indian Railways has announced a high-level investigation into Friday’s train accident in Tamil Nadu, in which the Mysore-Darbhanga Bagmati Express rammed into a goods train, injuring 19 people. A senior rail safety officer carried out a statutory inspection at the accident scene in Kawaraipetai ahead of the investigation. Work to restore service is progressing; however, officials said it will take at least 16 hours to restore the tracks.
Meanwhile, more than 1,800 passengers on the accident train took a special train from Chennai Central Railway Station to Darbhanga earlier in the day.
