West Bengal sets up grievance redressal committee for healthcare professionals

The West Bengal government on Tuesday set up a state-level grievance committee to resolve issues involving healthcare professionals, the government said in a statement.

The announcement was made hours later Doctors resume indefinite ‘total shutdown’ Across the state, various requirements are being urged, including ensuring their safety and security in all health care facilities.

The government said eminent surgeon Dr Sourav Dutta will chair the seven-member committee. The committee also includes Dr Debjani Banerjee, Dr Yogiraj Ray and Dr Sajib Chakraborty, among others.

The government said all secretarial assistance to the committee will be provided by the state health department.

Meanwhile, the West Bengal government had earlier dissolved all ‘Rogi Kalyan Samities’ (Patient Welfare Committees) and reconstituted committees chaired by medical college and hospital heads, news agencies PTI the report said.
