It should be around 8.30pm. When it was dinner time, all the workers working in the tunnel gathered in the canteen to eat. While the food was being prepared, three armed terrorists suddenly arrived at the scene and fired wildly at the workers present. Before anyone could understand, the terrorists began to selectively target workers. Two other vehicles were burned to ashes in the fire.
This is what eyewitnesses of the Ganderbal terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir say. So far, seven people have been killed in this terrorist attack, including a local doctor. Five tunnel workers were seriously injured in the attack and are undergoing treatment at the Sher Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar.

The tunnel connects the Jagangir Valley to Sonamarg in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district. The tunnel is being constructed by APCO, a construction company based in Uttar Pradesh. In fact, the tunnel is expected to be completed by 2025, so work is underway here in full swing.

Sources said that the attack was carried out by the Lashkar-e-Taiba-linked Resistance Front (TRF) and judging from the terrorist attack, the terrorists may have infiltrated through Ghurair and reached Gombar a few days ago. The terrorists must have been told that many workers and engineers from construction companies worked here.
